Considerations

  • Clearing and cleaning up is the responsibility of the hirer

  • We are not licenced for the sale of alcohol, if selling alcohol then the hirer must obtain a temporary event notice (TEN) from EDDC

Main Hall (has a stage)

Suitable for

  • Presentations, Talks, Films, Large Meetings, Quizzes, Fairs, Workshops, Kid’s and Adult Parties, Performances, Concerts, Dinners, Dances, Community Events, Promotions, Playing Music, Wedding Receptions, Large Gatherings

Capacity

  • 200 standing, 120 seated, 80 seated at tables

  • 14m long x 8m wide x 2.5m high (lowest) + Stage of 3m deep x 6m wide

Considerations

  • The batten lights (8) are bright, they can be switched off in pairs

  • If padded chairs are required then these must be requested on the booking

  • Bouncy castles are allowed but must be less than x m high, make sure you have insurance for it 

  • The AV system is easy to use but you may wish to have a walkthrough in advance

  • Booked by Whimple School from 9-3.30 during term time

  • There is no proper stage lighting just ordinary bulbs

Kitchen

Suitable for

  • Catering, food prep, teas and coffees

Capacity

  • About 6 – Suitable only for cooking and food preparation

  • 100 complete place settings including plastic wine and water glasses and water jugs

Considerations

  • If doing hot food catering this needs to be discussed with the Bookings Secretary

  • The kitchen can be hired just for teas and coffees at a reduced rate when hiring the Committee Room or Main Hall

  • Bring your own tea/coffee etc.

  • There is a hatch into the Committee Room

Committee Room

Suitable for

  • Meetings, Small Gatherings.  

  • As a ‘café’ when hired with the kitchen.

  • As an ante-room for drinks or food when hired with the main hall

  • About 20

Billiard Room

 

Suitable for

  • Meetings, Small Gatherings, Playing Snooker and Darts

  • 20 seated, about 40 standing (around the billiard table)

  • Full size snooker table with balls and cues

  • Kitchenette

  • Separate ‘Own’ Toilets

Considerations

  • Although the snooker table dominates the room there is enough space for meetings beside and around it

  • If wanting to use the Snooker table this must be specified in the booking

  • Bring your own cups/tea/coffee etc.

  • Tables and Chairs must be specifically requested

  • Independent ‘own’ toilets not easily ‘accessible’ for wheelchairs (step down)

  • Booked from 9-4 during term time by Whimple Pre-school except for Thursday mornings

Garden

 

Suitable for

  • Outside gatherings, small festivals and garden parties

Capacity

  • 200

Size

  • About 250 sq. m.

  • Covered bandstand area

Considerations

  • Can be booked separately but usually booked in conjunction with other rooms

  • Not available 9-4 Mon-Fri during term time

  • The Pre-school nursery garden area is out of bounds and must not be used
